Skip to main contentThe Ask feature allows you to generate SQL queries to discover insights from your ingested data
using natural language quickly.
Key features
The Ask feature implements all data insights benefits plus a few additional ones:
- Automatically generate SQL queries for insights: You can use natural language to generate SQL queries.
It’s helpful to technical and non-technical users.
- Predefined queries: NexusOne provides suggested queries if you’re unsure of what to ask.
- Visualization: Visualize the results of your queried data on Metabase with one click.
To function effectively, the Ask feature operates within the context of domains.
What are domains?
Domains categorize related ingested data. Examples include categorizing data based on Company, Product,
or Department. For example, a Product domain could include datasets such as product reviews and inventory.
Your team’s administrator maintains these domains using DataHub.
When discovering insights on NexusOne, the Ask feature filters data based on a domain.
This means that while ingesting your data, you must assign it to a domain first before the Ask feature can analyze it.
Once you organize your data into domains, you can start uncovering data insights.
What are data insights?
Data insights are meaningful interpretations of ingested data. Most times, it’s difficult to notice
patterns from large raw data alone, using data insights bridges that gap.
Data insights help you understand what the data indicate, which helps
you make informed decisions.
The following list highlights a few benefits of data insights:
- Helps you identify predictable patterns and events that deviate from these patterns.
- Provides clarity when trying to optimize for performance based on the data.
- Reduces reliance on manually analyzing data.
- Enables data-driven decisions.
Use cases
These examples show how different industries can use NexusOne’s data insights capabilities:
-
Financial services: Analyze historical transaction data and discover anomalies when performing a fraud assessment.
-
Education: Use centralized student records to analyze student performance trends.
