# Create a role

> Create a custom role that combines multiple default roles into one so you can manage access across NexusOne features.

In addition to the default roles assigned to each NexusOne feature, you can create additional custom roles.

A new role is helpful when you want to combine multiple default roles into one. You do this
before assigning the new role to a user or group, so that they can access multiple NexusOne features.

## Create a role

Perform these steps to create a role.

1. Log in to NexusOne.
2. On the top navigation bar, hover your mouse over **Govern** and then select **IAM**.
3. Scroll down to the "Team roles" table and click the plus `+` icon in the top right corner.
4. Enter a name in the **Name** field.
5. Enter a description of the role in the **Description** field.
   For example, "This role grants access to the Ask and Engineer features."
6. In the **Associated Roles** field, select the roles that you want to associate with the new role.
7. Click **Create**.
