# Create a subgroup

> Create a sub-group to organize teams within an existing group.

You can create a subgroup when you want hierarchy within an existing group. For example,
a main group called Engineering can have subgroups such as Frontend, Backend, and DevOps.

## Create a subgroup

Perform these steps to create a subgroup.

1. Log in to NexusOne.
2. On the top navigation bar, hover your mouse over **Govern** and then select **IAM**.
3. Scroll down to the "Groups" table and then click the plus `+` icon in the top right corner.
4. Enter the group name in the **Group Name** field.
5. Select an existing group in the **Parent Group** field. This becomes the parent group.
6. Click **Create Group**.
