# Create a draft version

> Store new rule content as a draft version.

The graph is parsed and structurally validated before anything is
written, so a malformed decision can never reach the publication
pointer and fail at evaluation time. Content identical to an
existing version returns that version instead of creating a
duplicate, which makes repeated saves idempotent.

**Required roles**: `author` or `workspace_admin`
